Not Scooter Related, but maybe someone here can
identify this part.

After cleaning, my son found this object on the floor. It's about three inches
long, and threaded on one end. Small diameter.

Well without knowing your likes and interests (besides scooting) I'd say it looks like some kind of thumb screw. Maybe from some camera equipment or a tool that has a stop or guide on it.

We actually found it on the floor at my mother in laws house
after cleaning, so I can't help much. They had no idea
what it was either. It could be one of the screws that hold
an older printer cable on the back of the computer.

About 3 inches, with a small diameter

Edit I just measured it, (its metric) exactly 7 cm

You can really get screwed from both ends with those things.

Bad-dum-bump.

Drive safely!

Yer mom doesn't happen to be a midnight muscle car mechanic does she? :D

It is an air cleaner stud, it is most likely 1/4-20 thread on both ends.
Short end into top of carb, then the 3-4" air cleaner, then cover, then wing nut.

It's only threaded on one end, the other seems to be
textured(maybe a grip to turn it)

Looks like one of the cross beams has gone out askew on the treadle.

I didn't expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition.
