This tom turkey was hanging around my neighborhood all day. Usually, I just see the hens.

This pileated woodpecker visited the back yard for about an hour this afternoon. In one picture, a flicker was trying to take advantage of the heavy excavation to get an easy meal. In another, the pileated spread it's wings to chase away a squirrel who got too close.

See how big that turkey is? One hit me in the face shield--felt like a baseball bat to the helmet! And it got stuck there for a moment--like a cartoon! I couldn't see! Pulled to a stop and checked for blood. All I found was bird sh-t. Guess I scared the sh-t out of him. Never found the bird... hope he was okay. I was glad I was on my old R6, a sport bike, and was leaned forward. Also, wearing a backpack so my head didn't fling back.

This hawk swooped into my back yard and selected a squirrel for lunch today.

Beautiful!!! We had one picking at a Sea Gull one afternoon at work. Some actually saw it pick the bird out of the sky.

Saw this in Madison Park last Thursday on my lunch break. Seems I wasn't the only one enjoying lunch in the park...

I finally remembered to take my zoom camera with me on the way to work yesterday. I frequently see bald eagles and have been meaning to get some pictures. The birds with brown heads are immature.
