TOP SCOOTER SAFETY TIPS:

1. ALWAYS use a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads.
2. Children under eight should always be supervised when using scooters.
3. Use scooters in a safe places.
4. Do not ride a scooter at night.

Dunno about the "do not ride a scooter at night" part.

Read Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well by David Hough. Just about everything he says applies to scoots.

I highly recommend this book too. I purchased it right before I went for my permit.
