After riding today on the horrable Staten Island roads, I felt like I was driving a boat rather then riding a scooter. There were so many PONDS in the middle of the road. Has anyone seen the vespa boat that some guy made in the 60's?? I actually came up with a plan to build my own vespa ferry, but after seeing that someone already made something similar, I put the plans on a shelf. I;m toying around with the idea of taking the project up again. I need some steel barrels to cut up. Anyone know where I can get some used?

In this past month's TWO there's an article of a guy who turned his BMW motorcycle into boat.

Works well... some barrels, wood planks.... he tools around Africa on it.

Vespa or Boat?

For getting around the neighborhood and stuff, I like the Vespa.

Boat is better for, like, the ocean.

Im talkin about a having a raft like floatation platform. You strap your scooter on, or motorcycle. The rear tire drives rollers, kindda like a dyno machine. Which would then turn a propeller drive shaft. The front tire would connect with the rudder, so by turning your handle bars you are also piolting the vessel. This way you dont have to sacrafice your scooter, and can simply drive away when you hit the other shore. Factory options would be a gally and 50 pound canons.

If you can get a lead on the cannons, let me know. A vespa raft armed to the teeth is definitely the way to go if you have to cross the Hudson to Jersey - you can't be too careful over there.

Jay, have you ever seen those recessed rollers in the ground at motor vehicle inspection stations? You could put paddles on the ends of those. That's what you need.
That way you could pull right up onto the boat, drop your rear wheel into the rollers and - ZOOOM! - off you go.
There's NO WAY that won't work.
Let me know when you hook that up.

I'll bring the 'shrooms.

I'll tell you guys what. I'll have this thing done by the demonds rally on the delaware . I will let people try it out only if you have a ticket. Where do you get a ticket? At the Skull Fuckers Rally this May, thats where. At the Rally you will be able to see the plans for this boat thing, and If I'v started it, you can see the work in progress. Every dime of the rally profits will go to some sort of charity.
