The New York Scooter Club: Getting Involved

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:00 pm

Thank you very much to everyone who attended last night. You all contributed to a very successful first meeting of the New York Scooter Club. I am sure you would like to know a bit more about the Club now that it exists, when events will be, and how you can get involved.

Being Notified of Club Events
All Club events will be listed on the New York Scooter Club website and will be emailed to the New York Scooter Club Yahoo list. Events will also typically be posted in all regional forums and discussion lists to the entire community. But if you don’t read the boards or discussion lists and/or you just want to be sure you do not miss out on a Club event, please sign up for the New York Scooter Club Yahoo list by simply going to our website and putting your email address into the box labeled “subscribe here to be notified of events”.

The Club Monthly Planning Meeting
There will be a Club planning meeting on the first Monday of every month at 7PM at the Brass Monkey (this means we will avoid Club business on Wednesdays). You can be as much or as little involved in Club planning as you want to be.

The Club planning meetings will be focused on planning the New York Scooter Club events. The Club is designed to be an active Club, with many events encouraged aside from just the Wednesday night activities.

The Club may plan events that are targeted at certain segments & interests of the scooter population as well as events that will be for all. This will ensure that everyone gets something from the Club. This means there will be long rides and short rides, things targeted and newbies and things targeted at oldbies, and general events such as last night were all are welcome. All of your ideas will be welcomed.

Getting Your Ideas on the Agenda
We will build the monthly planning meeting agenda based on the event ideas that the community submits to us. The New York Scooter Club has set up a forum for idea submission. This is NOT a forum meant to replace the Gotham Forum or the Yahoo group any other discussion list. We merely want one place were all ride/event ideas can be summarized. If you have not already done so, create an account on the NYSC website and feel free to click the Forum link on the top of the page to submit your event idea.

The Club Organizers
In an effort to ensure that the Club runs smoothly we have a wide array of folks who play specific roles for the Club. They are:

Johnny Cataneo, President
Herb Dershowitz, Vice President
Theodore Crispino, Treasurer
David Pitts, Sgt-At-Arms/Brand Ambassador
Joe Grant, Events Coordinator
Jonathan Perkel, Editorial & Marketing
Allison Watters, Events & Public Relations
Neil Barton, Communications

We all look forward to working with the entire New York area community of scooterists to make this Club a success. The next Club planning meeting will be on Monday, November 7th at the Brass Monkey, we hope to see you there.
